Screen time reduces sleep time? Statistics prove it.

Sometimes when people know something they do not believe it till it actually gets put in front of them with a scientific stamp on it. This study actually proves that the more time a person spends on devices with screens the less sleep they have and the longer it takes for them to fall asleep. Weird right? Well I believe that the glitter and activity of the screen is working on the mind in such a way that your mind is unable to distinguish what’s real from what’s not real. So when a person tries to fall asleep after all that screen time, the mind is racing through all those things to compartmentalise their day and calm down or subdue all those active things that take place on the screens. With the fast pace of games, social media and the simple fact that you have it in your hands, it means that you will have a flood over activity in your mind that needs to be processed and managed before you go to sleep.

When we switch our computers off at night or switch them to hibernate (either by clicking on the buttons or commands or simply closing the laptop) the system takes a while to shut down all those services and memory and ram and drives and place them in a safe solid state so that it will not be damaged during transit if need be.

Our minds are much the same. When we go to sleep at night in both our conscious and subconscious we are shutting down those memories and rams and services which would body has used through the day so that our bodies and minds can be put a t a full state of rest. If we have so much stuff going on and in our subconscious mind we have this unhealthy urge to get back into it almost like a drug addict, its no wonder we take so long to fall asleep and even why we sleep for such short periods at a time.

The length of the sleep would naturally be affected by the addictive desires of the environments we are working on. Facebook has actually been shown to have addictive tendencies amongst people. Which means that your mind will always have in the background this urgency to keep up with what is happening on your Facebook, just as a game would have. That urgency is portrayed in drug addicts. they cannot wait for their next fix. This would be why we sleep shorter because our subconscious mind is yearning to get back in the game or see what was posted.

These points I only my thoughts on this topic.

@sagoodnews article… You are difference in South Africa, so stop complaining and be the difference…

It’s always astounding to me the amount of hot air going around South Africans at the moment and that is not even the politicians. Nope, its the general public.

This article is a great wake up call to look at your own community and start to be the change in your environment.

@sagoodnews great article!

Daddy daughter day out…

Some things in life cannot be priced or coated or even bought. A simple walk around Moses Mabidah gave me some new insights into my two girls that I did not know. It was a very special time.

@copelandnetwork message on hope and children is powerful…

This is so powerful and not just because its the Word, but its from people who have walked this road.

You Have Hope!

Kenneth Copeland

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast….

– Hebrews 6:19

You may be in the deepest hole of your life. But if the Word says you have hope, then, glory to God, you have hope!

You may think your circumstances are tearing you apart, but I have news for you. Your circumstances are not the problem! All circumstances, I don’t care what they are, must bow their knee and submit to the Name of Jesus and the Word of God when faith, hope and love are brought to bear on them.

When circumstances are very bad, get your Bible and some teaching tapes and go off by yourself until you stop negative thoughts from bombarding your mind. Gloria and I have done that many, many times. Years ago, we did that where our children were concerned. It was obvious from the circumstances that the devil was after them and the pressure was getting worse and worse.

Finally, we decided to deal with the situation head-on. We spent time piled up in the middle of the bed with our Bibles and our notebooks, looking up every scripture we could find about children. We wrote them all down, prayed over them and made an irrevocable declaration.

We said, “On the basis of the promises of God and by the blood of Jesus, our children are not going to hell. The Word of God says our children are taught of the Lord and great is their peace, and that settles it forever.”

Then, no matter what happened, we stood our ground in the Name of Jesus. To keep from wavering, we had to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the Word God had given us about our children. We had to bring all our thoughts into captivity and into obedience to that Word. All our thoughts!

“Well, I try to do that, but sometimes I just can’t help what I think.”

You most certainly can. God’s Word says you can (Philippians 4:8). God’s Word tells you to choose what you think, and cast down what you shouldn’t think. When you do that, hope will have a place to work. In fact, if you’ll guard your mind, there will come a moment when hope suddenly rises up. Add to that, faith and the love of God, and complete the transaction in the realm of the spirit. Suddenly, that hole you are in won’t be deep at all. You can walk right out.

When that happens, you’ll suddenly know that what you’re hoping for is yours. It’s yours and all the demons of hell can’t keep you from receiving it. You’ll find yourself saying, “It’s done! It’s mine, glory to God!”

CES and our future technology dictated by companies, but cancer still have no cure…

Sounds like a government forcing their view on people, but instead it is the CES show and the companies are trying to use their Key Note speeches to entice the various companies who may install their products rather than the consumers. These keynotes are an important area of the show because they will show us what the key areas and trends of technology that big companies will shove down our throats later on through this year. The main thread here is connected everything and cars that don’t need humans to drive them.

Who needs Back to the Future ,we are in the future. My question to all these mega advances is where is the cure to Cancer? Not the management of it, the actual bonafide cure? We are sending people to Mars, getting appliances and even furniture to speak to us through technology, some technology is watching us and thinking for us, other technology is making our lives easier, but through it all I still do not see world hunger being solved, deadly diseases being eradicated or poverty being lifted?

If all the money in the world was dished out evenly every person would have over one million US dollars. I am not supporting communism, I am asking what are those super rich actually doing with their money when their fellow man is suffering these great ills? When will CES and all those massive technology companies and businesses from around the globe come together to create a cure for one disease that is still hitting people all over the world?

Don’t get me wrong, I love all those advances in technology, but they all do only one thing, create more money for the companies and new products which creates a new market for those people to buy more stuff and the old stuff lives on a dump which the human race at the moment cannot recycle. Imagine if 20% of all the R&D and technology developments of all the companies around the world would go into one global research project with one purpose to eradicate cancer? We as a world are amazing and can overcome any obstacle thrown at us if we just find the time and desire to help each other together. Look at how much was able to be done when Haiti has their quake? Look at how much support poured in to Indonesian when the tsunami ravaged the country? How much more could we do as a world if we put all that compassion and wisdom into one place just for a global cause, to put aside our own agenda’s and to think about our fellow man for a moment and create the answer together.

Many years ago we did this once. The whole world stood in unity to find one common solution to a problem. How to tell people what to do in case of an emergency on an aeroplane! Yes, those instructions you get when the cabin closes are in fact a result of the whole world coming together to decide on one standard method of telling people what to do when a problem happens on a plane.

@DJBradHouston tweeted this link to the most divine looking breakfasts, thanks Brad!

Thanks Brad for this, I am going to be doing some breakfast changes this year! They all look awesome. The second one may look weird with an egg of green lettuce, but the flavours must be awesome together. The wrap looks great too. Okay, I think I need to go have breakfast now before I eat my keyboard!

“Broken Windows” theory on order in a community, what is our role as members of the community…

This is a very simple but powerful community policing technique that has been used several times over the past years in many different countries with the same good results. The challenge is that it is not just a police thing, but a community thing so we all have a role to play in using basic order to keep our communities safe. What role are you going to play to help your fellow community to be a better place?

@GeorgeHWBush celebrates 70 years of marriage, that is wonderful and so rare….

Ephesians 5 talks about the plan of a marriage between a husband and a wife. Science has shown that husbands and wives live longer and have better health. Marriage (between a husband and wife) is a God ordained environment for favour and blessing. This is so rare and beautiful. Well done sir, you and your wife a re setting an example to the world on what marriage should be.

@dybmovie Do You Believe asks a very important question…

This is a still from one of the scenes in the movie Do You Believe. This movie looks awesome, but what really hit me was the probing questions that are asked in the trailer alone. This one is a real serious question and one which I believe we all should answer, but in the movie it looks as if this is put to a bigger test than we think.

These are the final days before the coming of King Jesus. How do I know, well read the Bible and you will find all the news of today being predicted in the Bible. This means that we have been given the honour of being the ones who represent the church that Jesus is coming for. We are the ones who people are looking to for the peace and love which is lacking in the world today, but how much of our lives reflects that over coming power which Jesus teaches us about?

Do You Believe enough to stand and live the life which Jesus talks about or is it just a Sunday hour?

@Microsoft to surprise in 2015? These are some interesting points…

There are many view points about the current state of Microsoft and many people may be right, but there are so many more areas that Microsoft have been working on over the past year that will hit pay dirt in this coming year. Do you know about all the other avenue of income and diversity they have been involved in? Here is an interesting article that highlights some of these areas.

“Unbroken” The rest of the story…

This man went through so much and came back “unbroken”, but the truth is that after the movie was over, this man did become broken, depressed and an alcoholic. It wasn’t until he met Jesus at a Billy Graham meeting that his life really became victorious. Hollywood left out that most important part didn’t they. Here is the video of this man’s life.

“Unbroken”, the unfinished story. There is a more important part that the movie left out…

Sure there is an awesome movie about the pain and hardship and a story of a man who overcame, but what happened after that? There is a greater story that was never told. The greatest story happened after the movie finished. It’s a story of a man who returned victorious and then went into a state of depression and drinking. A man who came through all those victorious and became broken! Then he met Jesus and that is when the real story of his true victory began, because even with all those amazing and courageous action in the war, he still could not overcome, until he met the Lord!
