I do not accept that we should suffer reduced service delivery, here is what we should do…

I was reading this article below and really just cannot believe how crazy this is. We are communities of great people in this country and the people of South Africa have triumphed over tougher conditions that we are currently in. Why is all this happening now? The answer is in our consumerised mind-set. We have all been trained to believe that the government is our source for water, energy, and who knows what else and we must just sit back and they will do the rest. Well that is just simply not the truth. As communities, we are supposed to play a part in the process of our service delivery. In some cases it is paying rates, but what happens when there are so many people who do not earn a viable income to allow the payment of rates. Our country faces this issue right now where the bulk of our communities do not pay rates for service and still expect services. It does not seem fair? But these are how the communities are suffering.

The solution is simple, we need to look back to our fore father who had to work on their own communities to keep them safe or provide for their water or power needs. In those days, there was no piped water and each community was based on where they could sink a bore hole or near a stream that they would have to protect from their enemies who would contaminate their drinking water. Now you are probably thinking that I am asking us to go back to that time. No, what I am saying is that communities need to use the strength of their youths and the wisdom of their elders and the unity of them together to solve these issues with their local municipalities. Here are some ways to do this:

1. Communities can bring all their rubbish to one central point which will reduce the number of trips and costs for their local municipality.

2. Communities can cut an clean their own verges, which builds a pride for your local community and helps reduce the number of trips the Parks department have to make.

3. Picking up litter. This helps reduce the number of times a refuse team need to sweep through the streets.

4. As a combined community buy some water tanks that can be used to water gardens or for additional uses.

5. If the funding is available set up solar panels on the people’s roofs to create a solar farm that the whole community can use and maybe even to power the local street lights.

6. There are many more ways that we can use our skills and abilities to help in our local communities, what are yours?

I am sure that there are many other ideas and I would love to hear them, but ultimately the municipality are supposed to be doing their jobs and it is not the municipality that are not doing their work, it is the people who work in the municipality who are sitting around doing very little instead of serving the communities that they have been put into to work in. You see, in the old days (not apartheid days) the communities used to know who the postman was, who the policeman was and who all the people where that provided services in their communities. If a service was not done, then that person was held responsible for this issue. Today, the staff turnover in the municipalities is so great that you never quite know who is doing the community services in your area. This however can also be solved by the community getting to know those people who are looking after these services. Not just when they are complaining, but instead all the time, even when things are good.

Communities and people of South Africa, get together in your communities and start working together on ideas on how to work with your local municipality to get your community cleaned up and working for you. Don’t sit back and wait for bad service or a lack of service. Don’t just fight against the municipality, fight for your rights by being a part of the solution. Pay your rates where they are due. Get to know your community leaders and workers. Speak to them. Invite them for a braai and get to know them as well. Communities are the building blocks of South Africa, not the government. The government is a representation of those communities and the people in that government should be the servants to their communities in which they live.

We welcome the newest member to our family…

Today marks a milestone in our lives. Since 1997 when we sat in the first demo model, we have always wanted a Yellow New Beetle. Today we have received that vision. God is faithful and gives us the desires of our hearts. Thank you Father in Jesus name. We also want to say thank you to my dad, Jane and Craig for your help along the way. But all the thanks and Glory goes to Jesus.

@copelandnetwork Keep the Weeds Out

Kenneth Copeland message on July, 09 2013

Keep the Weeds Out

Kenneth Copeland

So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground.

- Mark 4:26

Jesus compared the kingdom of God with the planting of seed and reaping the harvest. It’s a simple concept. One all of us understand. Why, then, aren’t all of us producing bumper crops every season? Because we’re sitting around waiting for God to do all the work.

He doesn’t operate that way. He’ll work with you, but He won’t do it all. There are some essential things you must do by faith if you want to have a crop to reap at harvest time.

First, you must sow the seed of the Word in faith, expecting it to grow. You must find precious promises from God in His Word, plant them in your heart and in your life.

Next, you must water the seed. Water it every day with praise. Water it with the spiritual water of the Word. That Word contains life and those seed promises can’t grow without it.

And finally, you have to keep the weeds out! When the weeds of unforgiveness, doubt, fear, discouragement, (and all the other junk the devil tries to sow into your crop) try to enter in, get rid of them. They’ll choke the Word.

That’s going to take some diligence on your part. No one else will do it for you. You’re going to have to weed your own crop yourself. So get tough about it. When a little weed pops up, kill it! Don’t hang on to it for even a moment. Pull it up by its roots. Spray it with the Word. Don’t be tempted to keep a wildflower when you can have the best–God’s best.

Don’t sit around waiting for God to produce your harvest. Start planting. Start watching over your land (your heart and your mind) to keep it moist, watered with the Word, and free from weeds.

Commit to do your part and trust God to do His. You will have a bumper crop this season!

Doug Engelbart the inventor of the computer mouse dies! It may not seem big to others, but the mouse is one of those holy cow inventions of the modern age. RIP Doug and thanks.

ETV complaint…

Sent: 19 June 2013 09:40

To: ‘bccsa@nabsa.co.za’;

Subject: FW: ETV complaint…

Importance: High

Dear BCCSA,

On the evening of 13 June 20130 at 20h30 I flipped channels across to ETV to see what was on and was greeted by a bare breasted woman on the floor having sex with a man. This is totally unacceptable at this hour of the night.

Please can you lay a complaint and respond to this email. I am not sure what the correct process is to do this. ETV have increasingly been putting violent and sexual movies on at family prime times. This weekend (16 June 2013) they will be screening District 9 at 08h00 which may have made history and many awards, but it has a lot of violence, xenophobia, racism and so many other bad teachings it’s hard to keep track, not to mention all the graphic violence. While I understand that the movie may be allowed by the publication boards, my complaint is the time at which this is being show.

ETV have been pushing this boundary more and more every week just about. For a free to air channel, they need to be kept in check. I understand there are boards that handle the type of content, but the times at which they show that content should be monitored and kept to the understanding that if it is peak viewing time that there are families that may be watching TV on Sunday at 08h00 who have little kids watching. Since many of the homes in South Africa are child headed homes, they do not even have parental control on what they can or can’t watch, shouldn’t this be the arena where we can bring some order to that environment?

Please can you place an official complaint against ETV for placing heavily age restricted, sexually explicit and violent material on at a time when children and families are supposed to be watching?

I am looking forward to your response.

My name is Emil Swanepoel

My address is <<address blocked out>>.

My mobile number is 0824976222

PS: Last time you told me that I could not lay a complaint because I did not follow Procedural Rules. I have had great difficulty finding those rules and hope that this email with my physical address and contact details will be enough to lay an actual complaint that can be taken before the complaints board. Thank you.

Yours Sincerely

Fruits of the Spirit or Veggie Tales?

They were all running around church singing Veggie Tales. There was so much laughing so I jumped in and said that I wanted to eat some veggies and that started even more fun.

cheap @apple iPhone????

So Steve Jobs is gone, now the real crunch comes, but is making cheap phones what Steve Jobs would have wanted you must ask yourself. I think Apple has always created mazing and designed stuff that does work in its own world, that however has proven to be its greatest stumbling block and advantage. The problem now is that the pressure is on to get the next great thing and no one seems to be too confident in the new guy being able to do it. This new cheaper iPhone looks suspiciously like another phone that has lots of different colours too. http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/06/13/rumor-apples-inexpensive-iphone-to-adopt-colors-from-iphone-4-bumpers

@ubuntu phone and touch is starting to get a life…

I still firmly believe that Ubuntu is the one dark horse in the whole OS race that people are forgetting about. Their new Phone OS is now finally getting data and by 2015 the Phone, Tablet and Desktop Os will be integrated into one download. Pretty impressive and the speed and growth with which they are developing and creating new systems and apps is a lot faster that the competitors. That makes them really dangerous. Take the HUD display for example. That is really innovative. http://liliputing.com/2013/06/ubuntu-phone-os-now-supports-cellular-data-social-sharing-more.html
